When asked how the city administration could support Hannover Pride beyond funding and content-related strengthening, the team wished for an offering for rainbow families. Therefore, in 2025, as in previous years, we offered a “Rainbow Family Corner” at Pride.

Bouncy castles play carts, glitter tattoos – quite a lot was offered. (Choosen-) families could dress up together and have their photos taken in a photo activity. There was a lucky wheel, popcorn, and sweets. Additionally, this year we made kaleidoscopes to change the participants’ perspectives. In Germany, fairy tales are a big part of childhood. Unfortunately, they are quite heteronormative, patriarchal, and often cruel. That is why we had a specially trained storyteller who told queer and non-violent fairy tales.

The city library also participated at the booth. This allowed a wide range of queer books for children, teenagers, and parents to be made available for viewing. We hope to contribute in this way to ensuring that Hannover Pride also reaches (queer) families.
