A last year’s online survey of all city administration employees regarding their experiences of discrimination revealed that a significant number of LGBT+ colleagues like to have a LGBT+ employee network. After a motivating working session on that topic at the RCN annual meeting in 2024 the LGBT+ Coordination Office has established the network. This was preceded by an extensive, ongoing advertising campaign. LGBT employees are not listed in a central directory. Colleagues in the target group were therefore reached in a variety of ways: approaching of colleagues who are openly LGBT, a notice on the city website, articles on the intranet and the employee magazine, entries in the internal event calendar, notices on the bulletin board in office buildings, advertising at an event on the occasion of Diversity Day, and word of mouth. The members decide together how they want to shape the content of the network. The LGBT+ Coordination Office takes care of scheduling, room reservations, and other infrastructure.
