In April, Cork welcomed a delegation of LGBTI+ youth workers from Reykjavik. In September, Cork City was honoured to host two of Korea’s leading LGBTI+ activists: Minhee Ryu, Esq., a staff attorney and co-founder of Korean Lawyers for Public Interest and Human Rights (KLPH), and a Secretariat team member of Marriage for All Korea. Her work focuses on same-sex marriage, non-discrimination law, freedom of expression, and transgender rights. Kiyong Shim, an activist with Chingusai (Korean Gay Men’s Human Rights Group) and other LGBTI+ organisations, is also an academic and author of several influential works on LGBTI+ issues.

Both delegations engaged with local LGBTI+ community groups and public sector agencies, including members of Cork’s LGBTI+ Interagency Group. The exchange provided valuable insights into rights-based approaches and progressive developments in both regions, fostering meaningful connections and collaboration.
