Brunswick has supported the LGBTIQ* Community for several years and has increased it’s acitivities mainly since 2018. In the year 2018 the city published a strategy: The integrated city development plan Brunswick 2030 which contents plans and policies for several topics. One of the topics regards participation, diversity and commitment. The goal of the actions is to make sure, that all people are able to participate in the social, cultural and political life in Brunswick. To achieve that, it is necessary to dismantle barriers and to acknowledge the diversity of people. Living together in solidarity in the diversity of cultures, identities and heritages is based mainly on the commitment and valuing cooperations of the people that live in Brunswick. Valuing each other is and stays the fundament of social peace in the city. To reach this goal for LGBTIQ* the plan suggested to install a Round Table LGBTIQ* to make it possible to discuss LGBTIQ* matters with represantatives of politics, administration and LGBTIQ* community. The second action was to implement a position within the administration who is responsible to coordinate LGBTIQ* topics.
