The City of Montréal supports community organizations to foster artistic projects that highlight the diversity of sexual and gender identities through an intersectional lens. Recent initiatives include:
- Keeping Our Memories Alive, an exhibition by the Quebec Lesbian Archives with support from the MEM – Centre des mémoires montréalaises, documenting decades of activism, community building and cultural expression within lesbian communities.
- Symbiosis, a mural by Ojibwe artist Cedar-Eve Peters, in collaboration with Mikana, honoring Two-Spirit identities and offering a powerful visual space. The term Two-Spirit refers to gender and spiritual identities that combine both masculine and feminine dimensions within certain Indigenous cultures.
- The Ctrl+Alt Festival, showcasing queer artists from Montréal’s nightlife and celebrating identities often excluded from mainstream cultural spaces.
