México City has agreements, legal provisions, and institutions for the implementation of actions in favour of people of sexual and gender diversity.

In 2021, the Law for the Recognition and Care of LGBTTTI+ Persons in México City was published, which stipulates that the city’s executive, legislative and judicial branches, as well as the local governments (Alcaldías) and autonomous bodies, must formulate their plans, policies and actions with a gender perspective and focus their work on promoting, protecting and guaranteeing the rights of LGBTIQ+ persons.

The law also establishes the creation of the Executive Secretariat of the Unit for Attention to Sexual Diversity (UNADIS), which is responsible for promoting and encouraging actions to disseminate, promote, guarantee and respect the economic, social, cultural and environmental rights of people of sexual and gender diversity.
