The provincial capital of Bregenz is continuing its commitment to the rights and visibility of queer citizens in the new legislative period following the local elections in spring 2025. Recently, additional rainbow benches were installed in front of the Mariahilf and Achsiedlung district offices. They are a sign that queer people are welcome in Bregenz and that the provincial capital is committed to the rights and interests of queer people and advocates for a queer life free from discrimination.

‘Bregenz stands for diversity and respectful coexistence. Our city should be a place where everyone feels welcome and safe – regardless of their origin, identity or lifestyle. Discrimination has no place here. That’s why we focus not only on protection, but also on education – for example, with the rainbow benches, which have been very well received by the public,’ says Mayor Michael Ritsch.
